Come out! Climate Rally at Burlington City Hall Monday July 24 at 6:00pm
The F-35 is a climate killer! You cannot destroy a planet to save it!
Wake Up, Step Up Rally! Climate action now!
On the steps of Burlington City Hall. Monday July 24 at 6pm.
Demand that Burlington ban gas-guzzler aircraft from the city-owned airport.
The F-35 is by far the worst!
The F-35 burns 22 gallons per minute at its peak efficiency in straight and level flight. It flies only 0.5 passenger-miles on each gallon of jet fuel.
The F-35 cannot protect us. It is destroying our planet!
After the rally we will join the city council meeting in Contois Auditorium to speak at public forum. We will demand that Burlington ban all gas-guzzler aircraft at the city-owned airport, including the F-35, which is the worst of them all.
A resolution directed to the extreme F-35 greenhouse gas emissions is up for a vote by City Councilors at the council meeting after the rally. The resolution was adopted by the City’s Transportation, Energy, and Utilities Committee (TEUC). It calls on the Wing Commander to work with the city to draft a plan to eliminate the Vermont Air National Guard’s greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and to provide an annual VTANG fuel usage and emission report.
This resolution is a first step. We will continue to call for canceling all F-35 training flights at BTV now. The extreme 115-decibel noise requires canceling its training at the city airport and in any populated area.
But its planet-killing extreme greenhouse gas emissions requires canceling all F-35 jets everywhere now.
No delay! Ground the F-35 now!
Canceling F-35 emissions is the lowest hanging fruit for planet preservation. Causing an increase in floods, wildfires, extreme heat waves, air quality degradation, severe storms, drought and expanding deserts, loss of glaciers, rising sea levels, loss of coastal lands, toxic algae in lakes, loss of species, and increased risk of pandemic, are no way to protect anyone.
You cannot destroy a planet to save it! Abolish the F-35 now!
Come out to the rally on July 24!
Write or call your public servants and demand an immediate halt to F-35 training in cities.
