F35 Takeoff Noise Near CCV in Winooski
These measurements were made in the CCV parking lot, at the east end of Abenaki Way in Winooski. Two groups of four jets took off, I missed the first jet.
These are presented in two graphs. The first one is zoomed in on the first group of four, as I said minus the first jet. These measurements are C-weighted.
The second graph shows the second group of four, jets 1 and 4 are A-weighted, 2 and 3 are C-weighted. The difference was not nearly as great as I expected. Of note in this graph is the square dip where I switch from C to A weighting just for the street noise, and you can see how much the background ‘rumble’ is attenuated.
The broad rise at the end of this plot with a 67dB peak is a lightweight 2-seat single-engine propeller plane taking off on the same flight path as the warplanes.
Each jet exceeded 100dB for just a few seconds in this location, though eight 100+ dB events is certainly ‘disruptive.’
