New York Times Report: "Noise can take years off your life. Here's how."
The June 9th article says that noise is "a largely unrecognized health threat that is increasing the risk of hypertension, stroke and heart attacks"
Here is the link to the New York Times article.
Excerpt from the New York Times article:
Mounting research suggests that the relationship between noise levels and disease is eerily consistent: A study following more than four million people for more than a decade, for example, found that, starting at just 35 dB, the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease increased by 2.9 percent for every 10 dB increase in exposure to road traffic noise.
The increase in risk of dying from a heart attack was even more pronounced: Also starting at just 35 dB, it increased by 4.3 percent for every 10 dB increase in road traffic noise.
…
Scientists believe that pronounced fluctuations in noise levels . . . might compound the effects on the body. They suspect jarring sounds that break through the ambience — recurring jet engines, [like the F-35] a pulsating leaf blower, or the brassy whistle of trains — are more detrimental to health than the continuous whirring of a busy roadway, even if the average decibel levels are comparable.
The daily assaults on thousands of Vermont families with the 115-decibel F-35 jets hundreds of times a month must stop now. The US Air Force said that 6,663 Vermonters live within the 5 mile by 1 mile oval-shaped danger zone centered on the runway. If you are a child or an adult living or working in or near that F-35 danger zone your heart and your life depend on that F-35 training in a city stopping now.
Past and present Vermont political and military leaders are the ones responsible. The governor, Lt. Governor, US Senators, US Congressman, state legislative leaders and members, city councilors, the adjutant general, wing commander, and the inspector general all have the power to halt the training flights of the F-35 in such a populated area. Some just by giving an order. Others by passing an ordinance. Others, by speaking out.
Each of them has long been in possession of the facts presented in the New York Times article. Each of them is knowingly, intentionally, purposely, and needlessly hurting thousands of Vermonters. Including over 1,300 children. For what? For the convenience of the military-industrial complex. They are sacrificing Vermonters. This is depraved neglect on a mass scale. The illegal, immoral and unjust training with F-35 jets in Vermont cities must stop now.
Let’s reignite the campaign to put a stop to the F-35.
Write or call your public servants and demand an immediate halt to F-35 training in cities.

The F35s being based in South Burlington was due to Patrick Leahy's pushing this move despite objections from the military. All the politicians up and down the ranks lined up like sheep to be in step with Leahy and his strong arm tactics. According to the Nuclear Arms Terms of Engagement, if a bomb is dropped in another county they will strike back by bombing the base where the jets departed from. Just imagine a nuke dropped in South Burlington. Can't happen here you think. But it doesn't take much imagination to look back on the 45th president and see that with out General Kelly stopping him, 45 intended to bomb North Korea and say another county did it. And this unhinged twice impeached, twice indicted, sexual predator and malignant narcissist is the leading contender for the Republican nomination. It would be better for the VT Guard to have a mission that is more consistent with VT values. Like humanitarian missions that help heal the world. Not a mission that is consistent with the Patriarchal Glorification of War!
Are those in elected office taking bribes from those that manufacture these planes?
